Page 27, "Houseflies and other pests":

When making a list of things with wings, I thought of the housefly. My first thought was, no, it will be too ugly for my book. But then I thought, "why not?"... ugly has a certain artistic beauty sometimes. I glued on some paper scraps (a cute dictionary paper). I partially tore out two pages in between, then rubbed them with brown chalk to make them look dirty. On the left, with eyelets and string I made a web effect. On the right side I left a torn trench down the center, backed it with printed flies and mesh. Then I added little cutouts of flies printed on velum. There is one metal fly embellishment on one of the torn leafs.
